Mercenaries can be hired and resurrected for in-game gold. Let’s get the basics down and see how you can tailor your mercenary to maximize your character class and skills. Remember to strip your mercenary of gear hiring another mercenary. It’s important to note that you can only have one mercenary active at a time and once you hire another mercenary while you already have one active, it will REMOVE and DELETE all items that the current mercenary holds. They also provide valuable auras that can help fill any lacking points in your current character build. This is because Diablo 2: Resurrected released with a buff to mercenaries stats and damage scaling. In D2:R many players will go to great lengths to equip gear on them. ![]() Fast-forward to Diablo 2: Resurrected, and you now often find players using beefy mercenaries and hirelings that will rain down pummeling damage on their enemies. They just didn’t put out enough damage nor tank well enough to be a serious consideration. In the old days of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, mercenaries weren’t something anyone ever considered in their build or general gameplay. ![]()
